A Few Words From the Manager
As we move from the hot days of summer into the cooler days fall,
I am anticipating the beauty of the cemetery as the leaves change.
When you visit the cemetery this fall, pass through the gates
on 27th street, where the trees at the entrance were chosen specifically
for their fall color.
This is also the time of year when we regret we must lay off the
employees we hired to help care for the grounds in the summer.
These employees become a part of our Llano Family.
Sometimes we are able to re-hire these workers when there are openings
on the grounds crew. We are always glad to hire back someone with
previous experience at Llano.
I have very good news to report on our water well situation. We
have drilled a new well, which is pumping approximately 225-250
gallons of water per minute. This well replaces a collapsed well,
which was drilled in 1933.
However, this new well is only one aspect of our continuing search
for an efficient and cost effective way to bring water to Llano.
To learn more about our concerns over water, please read the article
entitled “Knowing Llano from the Ground, Up.”
Also I would ask you to read the front page article about our new “Share
the Story” project. Please share with us the story of your
family members who are buried at Llano. Help us learn more about
the individuals who are a part of our historic cemetery.
