An Introduction to In-Ground Burials

In-ground burial is the most common and familiar type of cemetery interment. Located within Historic Llano Cemetery’s 200 acres are several different types of in-ground burial gardens, lots and spaces designed to meet the desires, traditions and budgets of all families.

Monument Lots have been developed to accommodate an upright monument of natural granite or marble, which is placed upon the grave-site. Monument Lots allow a family to create a uniquely beautiful upright memorial that can be custom-designed to reflect the life of their loved ones.

Grass Flush Lots are designed to create gardens that have a uniform, park-type setting. Natural granite, marble or bronze memorials are placed flush with the ground to produce areas that provide a natural and open appearance.

Veteran Spaces

Llano Cemetery has always placed special importance upon providing distinctive gardens that are specifically designed to honor the men and women who served in our country’s armed forces. Spaces in the Field of Valor and Field of Freedom are provided to our country’s veterans at a reduced cost and are available for spouses and other family members, as well.

Public Servant Spaces

Llano Cemetery pays tribute to the men and women who have served as law enforcement, firefighters and other public servants throughout the Panhandle of Texas by offering a unique garden designed especially to honor their service. Spaces in the Field of Honor are provided to current or retired public servants at a reduced cost and are available for spouses and other family members, as well.

An Introduction to Mausoleums

Once an interment choice reserved only for the wealthy and famous, today the advantages of above-ground entombment are well within the reach of all families. Mausoleum entombment is clean, dry and ventilated. It compares favorably with the cost of in-ground burial by eliminating lots, vaults, monuments or memorials.

Mausoleums have been used for thousands of years. Among the oldest and largest mausoleums are the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

Perhaps the most ornate and visited mausoleum in the world is the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.

The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier is one of our Nation’s most hallowed and revered monuments; a mausoleum inscribed with the words, “Here Rests In Honored Glory An American Soldier Known But To God”.
